Thrombox – new mobile which contains a world-unique calculator supporting the anticoagulative treatment process.

In November 2018 we have released a new mobile application – Thrombox.

It is addressed to a wide range of practitioners who deal with diagnostics and treatment of atrial fibrillation. Thrombox app, in addition to many information useful in diagnostics and treatment of atrial fibrillation, contains a unique interactive algorithm supporting the process of selecting anticoagulant therapy in the prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. This is the first solution of this type on the market.

Where did the idea and the need to create such a product come from? Every year, approximately 70,000 cases of stroke are registered in Poland, of which about 30,000 ends in death. Strokes are the first cause of disability and the third cause of deaths of people over 40 years of age. It is estimated that about 20% of strokes are associated with atrial fibrillation, the most common arrhythmia. In Poland, atrial fibrillation affects over 400,000 people. Due to appropriate anticoagulant treatment, about 2/3 of these strokes can be prevented. We trust that our application can help in proper diagnosis and treatment.

The Thrombox app is the first such a complete application supporting the decision-making processin the selection of effective anticoagulant therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation. It is important to remember that the application does not replace, but only supports the diagnostic and therapeutic process, leaving the final decision in the hands of the doctor. The algorithm is in line with the latest guidelines of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA 2018). Its advantage is the combination of diagnostic scales used in the assessment of the risk of ischemic stroke, CHA2DS2-VASc, together with the possibility of assessment of kidney function (Cockcroft-Gault scale), which allows a possible dose correction for patients with renal failure. In addition, the doctor has access to up-to-date information regarding the reimbursement status of the selected drug and patient co-payment.

The premiere of the Thrombox app took place during the congress of the Polish Cardiac Society in Krakow on 13-15th September 2018. MD-PhD Sławomir Chomik, co-founder and president of 3Clicks LLC, presented to the audience the application together with its “heart”, i.e. an interactive algorithm supporting the process of selecting anticoagulant therapy in the prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. The organizers have prepared a special zone for exhibitors of innovative technologies – Digital Cardio Area. Doctors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the application and positively assessed its functionality. Thrombox application works in iOS and Android systems and does not require access to the Internet, which makes it easier to use it in every place, like at the patient’s bed or during a home visit.

Pfizer Polska signed a sponsorship agreement with 3Clicks. The cooperation concerns the provision and development of the Thrombox medical application.
